WELCOME!
to my massage therapy practice
in Austin, Texas.
Hello,
I'm Cheryl Denny, licensed massage therapist.
It is my intention to give an overview
of what I can provide for you with my practice of
therapeutic massage and bodywork. Although I'm listing
all of the modalities I use, normally I will talk with the client
about their needs and what they are looking to achieve from
the massage. Then, after intial consultation and assessment,
I will plan a treatment. I normally use a combination of
Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and muscle release.
I may choose to eliminate anyof these, depending on
the needs and wants of the client.
My offerings include:
Swedish relaxation for stress relief and just to feel good!
Trigger point for release of knotted,
shortened, and tight muscles; This is an excellent treatment
for chronic pain and limited movement
associated with soft tissue such as frozen
shoulder, carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, sciatica,
or other chronically or acutely tight muscles.
Trigger points are loosely defined
as areas of acutely bound
up muscle fibers which are usually felt as knots and/or
tender areas which also have referred pain patterns
in other areas of the body
Muscle Release Technique:
or Repetitive Use Injury Therapy®
This is a combination of massage, muscle traction,
and active-isolated stretching.
It's very useful for relieving chronic pain in the
soft tissues. This includes everything from
carpal tunnel syndrome, to chronic back pain,
to plantar faciatus (foot problems).
This is a wonderful technique,
and along with diligent self-care, can aid in
producing long-lasting relief. I will use this as an adjunct to
regular massage and trigger point work.
Hot stones with aromatherapy (a REAL treat!); This
is combined with a Swedish massage. Very relaxing.
Good for stress release, to calm the mind,
and warm the tissues.
Deep tissue, targeted work for deeper muscles
on clients who need more intense work.
This technique includes slower
strokes with myofacial stretching or muscle stripping, hold
and release, MRT and stretches, use of forearm or elbow
for deeper access to underling muscles and tendons and
targeted work for specific problems.
I am currently in a certification program for "The Trager Approach"
With a one hour paid massage I will (when time allows) give you a "free practice" Trager session before or after your massage.
Let me know ahead of time so we can schedule enough time.

I love to do chair massage at businesses,
schools and events.
I own my own chair and table and will do
occassional outcall requests
